Our Recycling Center is more than just a place for environmental stewardship—it’s a hub for creating opportunities. At Abilities Unlimited, our center empowers individuals with developmental disabilities by providing meaningful work and life skills while supporting a sustainable future for our community.
Our convenient drive through Recycling Center is open for drop-offs 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. Our AU staff and employees are available to assist you from 8:00 am – 3:30 pm, Monday – Friday.
What We Do
We collect and process a wide range of recyclable materials, including paper, plastics, metals, and electronics. Our team works diligently to ensure that all materials are handled responsibly, helping reduce waste while giving individuals the chance to engage in valuable, hands-on work.
Cans
Beverage cans, all vegetable cans, cat and dog food cans, coffee cans.
Plastic
Drinking bottles, laundry bottles, milk jugs
Cardboard
Corrugated cardboard, food boxes, brown paper bags, feed sacks.
Electronics
Televisions, computer monitors, CPUs, laptops.
Paper
Letters, envelopes, junk mail, newspapers, copy paper, magazines, phone books, hardback and paperback books.

Where can I drop my recycling off?
Our recycling center is located at 223 W. University in Magnolia (under the SAU water tower). We offer convenient self-service drive-through 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. Our center is staffed to assist you Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 3:30 pm
Do you recycle glass?
Unfortunately not. Glass, because of its vulnerability to breakage, contaminates any loads it’s in, making the entire load unusable. Those glass fragments embed themselves into more valuable recyclables, like cardboard and paper.
What other items are NOT recyclable?
• Garbage
• Food waste
• Food-tainted items (such as used paper plates or pizza boxes, paper towels, or paper napkins)
• Plastic grocery bags or wrap
• Packing peanuts and bubble wrap
• Polystyrene or styrofoam
• Hazardous chemicals and chemical containers
• Plastic toys or sporting goods equipment
• Foam egg cartons
• Wood
• Light bulbs
• Yard waste
• Windows and mirrors
Does the recycling picked up by GFL come to the AU Recycling Center?
Yes. GFL picks up recyclables in the blue bins weekly and delivers to our recycling center. It’s VERY important that residents are diligent in ensuring ONLY recyclable materials listed above are placed in the blue bins.
Where do I get a blue recycling bin?
Columbia county residents can call the landfill at (870) 235-3785, Tuesday through Saturday, and they will bring one out to you.
Do I need to wash my recyclables before I donate them?
Yes, please wash out all cans and bottles and let them dry before dropping them off.
Do you accept hazardous materials like batteries or paint?
No, we do not accept hazardous materials such as batteries, paint, chemicals, or fluorescent bulbs. These items require special handling that we are not equipped to process.
